Giulia is an artist living and working in Berlin, Germany.
A little about me. Ever since I can remember, I’ve had two great passions: animals and art. It was only natural for me to combine them somehow. My favoured subjects were (and still are) horses, and I would draw pages upon pages of them. I started taking commissions drawing and painting as early as fourteen years old, which I would complete between schoolwork and riding horses. Then, when I began my university studies in Art History, I stopped my artistic endeavours completely – I was convinced my path was on the writing and researching side of art and not the making of it. It’s only now, at twenty-six years of age, that I’ve finally rediscovered my true calling – as an artist.
A little about my work. Although animals cannot communicate through words, it does not make them any less feeling or alive than humans. They convey their emotions and character through movement, touch, posture, and expression. In a way, this makes them more honest than us, for they cannot lie or pretend; they are unable to be anything other than their pure, genuine selves, and they express this unabashed Selfhood in every waking moment. Through my work, I aim to capture this exact essence – what makes the subject in question unique and loveable.
